About Mom Life

Motherhood can be beautiful, but it can also feel isolating. I wanted a space where moms could come and feel seen, supported, and understood.

About Sonya

I am first and foremost a daughter of God, and a mother of three.
I’ve been with my partner for five years, and together we’ve built a beautiful, blended family that includes my two stepchildren. My journey hasn’t been linear, but every step has led me exactly where I’m meant to be.
I grew up on the Central Coast of California and later moved to Iowa for college, where I studied Business. After graduating, I was driven-always chasing the next level, striving for more, and focused on building my career. But everything changed when my oldest daughter, Olyvia, was born.
Motherhood shifted my perspective in a way I never expected. I no longer wanted to feel torn between my career and my child. I didn’t want to feel guilty for staying home when she was sick or for simply wanting more time with her. So, I made a decision that would change everything.
I stepped away from the life I knew, moved back in with my parents, and went back to school to pursue my Master’s degree and teaching credential. Two years later, I became a teacher and eventually made my way back to Southern California. Since then, we’ve welcomed two more children into our family, and I have never once regretted that career change.
After each of my babies was born, I gave myself the space to heal and bond-taking time to recover from postpartum depression and embracing those early months without rushing back or feeling pressured. That season taught me the importance of grace, patience, and truly being present. Now, when my children are sick, I can be there. I can nurture them, comfort them, and show up in the ways that matter most.
Accepting motherhood as my vocation has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. It has shaped me, grounded me, and continually reminds me of what truly matters.

Why I Started Mom Life

I started Mom Life with a vision of creating more than just a podcast-I wanted to build a hub of support and resources for mothers.
Motherhood can be beautiful, but it can also feel isolating. I wanted a space where moms could come and feel seen, supported, and understood. A place where conversations are real, and the topics are relevant and relatable to every stage of motherhood.
One day, while listening to the news, I heard a story about a baby who tragically lost her life in connection with her mother’s postpartum depression. That story stayed with me. Having experienced postpartum depression myself, my heart broke-not only for the baby, but for the mother. I understood, in some small way, how heavy and overwhelming that season can feel.
No mother should ever feel alone in her struggles.
That moment deepened my purpose for Mom Life. I felt called to create a platform that could connect mothers, open up honest conversations, and help women find the support and resources they need without shame or fear.
My prayer is that Mom Life becomes a place of community, healing, and hope. A reminder that even in the hardest moments, you are not alone and there is always support within reach.
This is not about perfection. It’s about progress, support, and real-life experiences.
